Pestle Mortar, Spoon

Pestle, Mortar, and spoon used by toothless old men to pound Yams, Njahi and Miraa. Worn round the neck (women's pattern slightly different). Mortar-Ntua or Ntiri, Pestle-Mutiri or Kamutiri. Mortar made of "Muratina" wood and raw ox-hide. Pestle also carried as a baton or swagger stick and made on "Muteretu" wood. Spoon made of horn, ox or buffalo. Purchased from "Mucheke"from Katungu of Tigania Rika Kichunge (Kubai) and by himself.
