The renovations of the Petersen House implemented after Osborn Oldroyd’s collection was removed from the Petersen House merely tried to replicate a standard, Civil War-era, middle-class home. However, as time went on and interest in Lincoln and his death increased, the government decided to invest further time and resources to create an accurate restoration of the home as it had appeared that fateful night in 1865.
