[inglês] [manuscrito] Dear Portinari: Your exhibit brought much praise for you and many new friends for our Gallery. We were thrilled to have Mrs. Roosevelt as the first guest on the evening of the opening. She was very much impressed and promised to see the murals at the Library of Congress. Miss Josias at the Brazilian Embassy told me she had sent you publicity whish had appeared in papers here so I am sending you copies of photos whish we had taken. Even after the painting were taken down persons came. We showed them as long as they were in the Gallery but now they have been returned to Mrs. Rudes who was very kind in helping us to show the works. Our Gallery has fallen in love with the little “Negro Bride” I liked it so much that I asked Mrs. Roosevelt to stand with me so that we might have a picture of her. Please let me know the least you would consider my purchasing it for. I have very little money and it might seem presumptuous to ask hut I would love to own the painting. Again I thank you with all my heart for your extreme kindnesses. When you are in this Country again please come to see us. Sincerely. Alonzo J. Aden
