The Spanish monarch called “The Brave” for his war actions is portrayed in this canvas, matching the one of his wife. Miguel Jacinto de Meléndez would have painted them, together with the one of the first-born son Luis I as a child, to present them for approval as chamber painter, thus having an exceptional historical value.
