Depicted on horseback, in a three-quarter profile to the rear-right, the horse running towards the combat as the general turns back around, sword held aloft to encourage his troops. He is wearing the informal uniform, the bicorn hat on his head, as well as his aiguillettes and decorations (including the ribbon of the Order of the Reunion). In the background, there are hussars to the right and dragoons to the left, all heading towards the center of the clash.
