Designed by John Laing, McAlpine and Henry Boot Ltd, the Phoenix prefab bungalow was developed by the 1930s. Built using a timber frame with asbestos cladding, 2,428 were built in Britain. Sixteen Phoenix prefabs in Wake Green Road were listed Grade II in 1998.
