Friedrich Neubauer documented the Main Market Square in a collage assembled from photographs. The view from an elevated position helped show the scope of the project. Neubauer seemed especially interested in the underground work at the square to install new flood tunnels, intended to control the threat of flooding from the nearby Pegnitz River.
