This photo shows Viriamu Teuruarii of Rurutu. He grew up with his grandfather, next to the marae (sacred enclosure) where the figure of A'a would have been kept. He associates closely with the figure of A'a to the extent that he felt it appropriate to have a tattoo of A'a on his body, close to his heart.
