Since October 1946, the state broadcaster in the largely-destroyed Dresden has had its studios in the left wing of the Hygiene Museum. The "Steinsaal"—the former entrance hall of the museum—was used as a temporary broadcasting room. As in many radio studios in the immediate post-war period, 2 AEG B2 (sound recorder berta2) magnetic tape recorders from Wehrmacht holdings have been reworked for stationary operation.
