Black and white photograph copy affixed to a white dimpled backing card. The image is of an aeroplane wreck at a tennis court. There is a tall corrugated fence in the background and a weatherboard building to the right of the scene. The damaged plane is surrounded by onlookers. The scene depicts what was supposed to be a aeronautical exhibition by a Frenchman named Gaston Cugnet on 3 December 1910. However, the imported Bleriot monoplane he was flying failed to clear the fence on take off from the MCG and crashed into the adjoining tennis courts at the Jolimont (western) end of the ground. Handwritten inscription ballpoint pen blue ink on reverse upper centre reads, "Aircraft Crash MCG Tennis Courts / 1910".
