The 'Wirksworth Stone’ is a carved sculptured stone with biblical scenes and figures, such as the life of Christ. It is said to date from the 7th-9th century AD and was originally the coffin lid from a sarcophagus.
The stone is laid in the north wall of the nave of St Mary's church in the market town of Wirksworth, Derbyshire.
