In 1842 the photograph arrived to Peru. French photographers and from other nationalities arrived to the territory and over time they implemented photographic studios that marked and recorded the time. One of the most popular genres during the second half of the 19th century was that of the studio portrait. These spaces were implemented with a backdrop, and in some cases with an elaborate scenography. In addition, the photographs could have a treatment after taking, giving the result particular effects.
The display image is a photograph of Mrs. Macedo, a character from which we have no more data, but in spite it allows us to see a classic example of a portrait of the time.
