The African Liberation Support Committee (ALSC) was founded in Detroit, Michigan in 1972 to provide financial, material and moral support to liberation struggles against colonial rule and apartheid taking place across the African continent. Beginning in May 1972, the ALSC sponsored an annual African Liberation Day to raise awareness and show support for African liberation struggles.
