Site located inside the cave of Altamira, in its vestibule. This site was excavated throughout the twentieth century by various different specialists, including Hermilio Alcalde del Río (1903 to 1905), Hugo Obermaier (1924 and 1925) and Leslie Gordon Freeman and Joaquín González Echegaray (in 1981), who identified two levels: the Solutrean and the Magdalenian. The Altamira National Museum and Research Center resumed the investigations in 2003 in the framework of the project 'The Times of Altamira', which set out a chronological sequence of eight levels spanning the Gravettian, the Solutrean and the Magdalenian cultures.
