Black and white photograph showing a group of United States and Australian Army officers standing on the Melbourne Cricket Ground, saluting. Twelve men are in the main group, who stand on the turf of the ground, a few metres from the boundary fence. In front of the Grandstand, behind the officers, several other military personnel are saluting, as are some of those in the first and second tiers of the stand. The photograph was taken during the United States 1st Marine Division occupation of the Melbourne Cricket Ground in the early 1940s.
