The 1936 Olympics, hosted by the Nazi regime, was a breakthrough for electronic television. Few could afford their own television at the time, so the Reichpost opened TV rooms in Berlin where people could follow the events for free. The screen, which was only 18x22 cm, was watched by about 40 captivated people. Later, TV rooms were set up with large screen projectors for several hundred people.
