What boy does not dream about becoming a fireman, sometime in his childhood? To walk among the brave men who save our lives and our homes; to ride in the big red truck and wield the mighty hose. A photograph from the late 1940s or early 1950s shows a town demonstration, possibly during a firemen's carnival or special exhibition, when firemen supervised young boys and allowed them to shoot water through the fire hose. Several boys wait in line while one manages to hold on, with the fireman's help. The look on the boy's face shows both deep concentration and sheer delight.
