Theodore Jean Jamin began to manufacture lenses and optical instrumentation in Paris in 1822. In 1855 he joined with Darlot Alphonse (1828-1895), who had previously worked with Lerebours and secrete. In 1860 the business control passes to Darlot retirement Jamin will die seven years later. At that time the headquarters of the mark was 14. Rue Chapon optical manufacturer Darlot continue until his death in 1895, after the factory was acquired by L. Turillon.
This objective is called centralized Cone, a target type Petzal made by Jamin & Darlot 1855. This goal had a focus mechanism gear-pinion rack on the front, while the rear had a cone painted dark in order to avoid internal reflection of sunlight fell directly on the sensitive plate. In some models the separation between the lenses could be altered by the user. This goal allowed both portrait photography such as landscape, for the latter was necessary to dismantle the front, which was reversible and allowed the group to replace the lens on the back.
