Photographic lobby card for the Hindi film 'Waman Avtar Baliraja' (proper noun), released in the year 1955.
The card shows the character Bhagwan Waman (Pravin Kumar), an incarnation of Lord Vishnu in full length view. He is dressed in a draped fabric, has long hair and a tilak on his forhead and is carrying the different gifts bestowed upon him by various Gods before he goes to meet King Bali. He has a walking stick ('Bhujdang') in his right hand, gifted by the Moon God. In his left hand, he is holding a begging bowl given by Lord Kuber and a water pot / 'kamandal', gifted by Lord Brahma. He is wearing a garland around his neck gifted by an unidentified Goddess and a deerskin gifted by the Earth Goddess for his protection.
On the bottom of the print, the credits are printed on a customised shape. From the top, first comes the name of the production house, ' BOMBAY FILM PRODUCTIONS', next line; 'Present', next line; 'Bali Raja' (Devanagari) (English: Bali Raja). The name of the film 'WAMAN AVTAR' is printed in the next line on an arc-shaped path and in the space between the two words, a photographic cut out of the character Bhagwan Waman (Pravin Kumar) is present. On the bottom, from left to right in the same line is the following text, 'DIRECTION RAMAN B. DESAI', 'ASSO. PRODUCER BHOGILAL C. PATEL'. Outside of the shape in the same line is the name of the still-production studio 'Shangri-la'.
