Photographic lobby still for the Hindi film 'Jagte Raho' (translation: Stay Awake), released in the year 1956.
The still shows three characters; the villager (Raj Kapoor), a resident Kailash Babu's (unidentified actor) daughter Sati (Smriti Biswas) and her boyfriend (Pradeep) from the point where the villager enters his house while running away from the other residents, out on a search for a thief. At the same time, Sati is forcing her boyfriend to leave the house from the fear of being caught by her parents, but the boyfriend refuses to leave from the fear of being caught by the residents who are spread around to find the thief. Upon refusing to leave, Sati dramatically tries to commit suicide by strangling herself with her sari and as a counter reaction, her boyfriend challenges her decision by trying to slash his own neck with a knife. In the frame, the villager is shown hiding behind a drum in the foreground. Sati is standing in the background towards the right side of the frame, strangling herself with her sari. To her left is her boyfriend, holding a knife to his throat. On the bottom border, towards the left, is a composition of illustration and text. Starting from the left is a silhouette of a man (possibly Raj Kapoor's character of the villager), next to this is 'Raj Kapoor's', overlapping with the name of the movie 'JAGTE RAHO' (English). Right under the movie's name is 'Written and Directed by-' followed by 'SOMBHU MITRA . AMIT MAITRA'. The text is followed by an illustration of a street lamp and a builiding. Towards the bottom right corner is the logo of the production company R.K. Films.
