Piano

This piano, which is entirely veneered with mahogany, is the first of twenty-two models of semiconcert piano that were produced by the company Cesare Augusto Tallone. Inaugurated in 1962 at the Collegio in Pavia with a concert by Mario Delli Ponti (1931-2010), this instrument was later donated to the Municipal Theatre of Florence in November 1966 as a sign of solidarity to the city after the terrible floods. The name of Tallone is especially associated with the professional career of the pianist Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli (1920-1995), since Tallone was the long-standing trusted tuner of his instruments. Moreover, we must not forget that, in the 1960s, Tallone created the first Italian grand piano, and that his excellent pianos were appreciated both in Italy and abroad.
