This double-sided quilt was created for, and used in, a series of performances in Guadalajara and Oklahoma City that invited participants to pause, engage, and self-reflect while picnicking. The artist guided the experience through prompts that encouraged care of self and community amid the difficulties of everyday life, and afterward, some fragments of the encounters were embroidered on the quilt. Over the course of the exhibition, the quilt is flipped to reveal both sides, and visitors are encouraged to return and use the prompts and notebook nearby to engage and participate themselves. With this work and others, the artist affirms that art is not distinct from, but rather part of, our everyday life.
