Initially, individual television stations picked-up on Bozo and hired local talent to play the clown. Despite the various actors and programming, each station_s version of Bozo included the official music and costume. By 1959, a Chicago station started to air a regular Bozo show featuring Bob Bell. Soon a line of character products ranging from dolls to changeable blocks to books to novelty toys hit the market. In the 1960, Bozo toys started to incorporate record-player technology. Stores started to carry Bozo Talking Books and Mattel_s _Genuine Bozo__ doll, which had a Bozo record inside.
