Trained at the Vienna School of Applied Arts, Georg Klimt, brother of famed artist Gustav, frequently exhibited designs of gold, copper, and other metals at the Austrian Museum for Art and Industry. He also designed numerous frames, like this example, to complement his brother’s paintings. Its stylized botanical forms embrace the ornamental aesthetic championed by his brother and their contemporaries in the Vienna Secessionist movement.
