Private picture telegrams were popular in the 1930s. They could be posted from all Deutsche Reichspost post offices and telegraph offices. They were then forwarded to the next image site with the note "picture telegram enclosed." As a special service, the Reichspost offered pre-printed decorative pages for special occasions such as Christmas or the 50th birthday of Adolf Hitler.
