Siemens’ handy suitcase design for their portable telephotography machine made it possible to set up temporary telephotography locations. Manufactured in 1936, it was probably designed especially for, and first used at, the Olympic Games. In Berlin at that time, 4 visual media institutions were set up with 12 portable phototelegraph transmitters. In addition to numerous personal greetings cards, it was mainly press photographs that were dispatched. They traveled around the world—including to Japan.
