Halifax Piece Hall was built in 1775-9. It is a rare surviving example of a large-scale, purpose-built cloth hall. It comprises classically detailed gallery arcades overlooking a large courtyard. The ranges have a series of individual rooms for traders to conduct confidential transactions. It is now a tourist attraction, and cultural and commercial venue.
