Photograph of wrecked piers after collapse of part of the first Tay Bridge. Part of a series of 91 black-and-white photographs of the wrecked piers of the Tay Bridge, which collapsed due to high winds on 28 December 1879. The series shows destroyed piers and girders, wreckage of the train and steam engine, and other parts salvaged from the Tay.
