The picture shows the “Pink Terrace” at the western shore of Lake Rotomahana. By the 1870s the “Pink and White Terraces” in New Zealand’s North Island had become a popular tourist attraction. The terraces were destroyed in the 1886 eruption of Mt. Tarawera.
