Zoila Fajardo, mother of a transgender daughter, and Alexa Fajardo, founding director of TransLatin@ DMV joined Ruby Corado, founding director of Casa Ruby to share their stories of immigration, resilience, and community building at the Smithsonian Folklife Festival. Their organizations provide safe spaces for transgender and non-gender conforming people to receive housing support, job training, and other services.
