First flown in 1966, the Pitts S-2B is based upon the popular S-2 originally designed by Curtis Pitts in 1944. The Pitts Special S-2B is a high performance aerobatic biplane aircraft popular among air show pilots today. Museum co-founder Jan Collmer of Dallas, Texas, flew the displayed S-2B for many years on the North American Airshow Circuit, sponsored by FINA. Jan recently retired after more than thirty years as an airshow performer.
