This photograph was taken at a place that made benimochi in Urushiyama Dewa-mura, Yamagata. In this photo, the petals are spread over a straw mat on a wooden box. A woman is placing the petals in thin layers resembling rice crackers. A man is stepping on the petals in a tub at the back of the photo. Isehan-honten bought benimochi made here and used it to make beni. The fourth proprietor, Kamenosuke Sawada, and his successor (assistant proprietor) Yonosuke appear in the upper part of the photo.
