Plans to move the House of Trade to Cádiz, together with other associated institutions such as the Merchant's Guild for trade with the Indies, were put together fairly early on. The fact that Cádiz was a seaport presented numerous advantages when compared with Seville, whose inland port was more difficult to access. However, these plans did not become reality until the 18th century.
This proposal is an early one, dating from the early 17th century, to move the Merchants' Guild to Cádiz. This organization was closely linked to the House of Trade, with its headquarters located in the Merchants' Exchange building in Seville (now home to the General Archive of the Indies). In the end, as noted previously, the plan did not come to fruition for another century.
