Also known as the Atlas Coelestis, this collection of celestial maps by Andreas Cellarius is renowned for the beauty of its 29 hand-coloured and illuminated double plates. This copy was printed in Amsterdam by Jan Jansson in 1661 and the first 21 plates describe the astronomical theories of Ptolemy, Copernicus and Tycho Brahe and feature the signs of the zodiac as still in use today.
