FIELD MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY OLEAC Fraxinus undei (Wenzig) Lingelsh. det. M. Nee, 1984 Tree 10 m. tall, 30 cm. D.B.H.; bark smooth in upper part, shallowly furrowed below and beginning to show somewhat of a diamond pattern. This tree in full flower and with emerging leaves, shedding pollen and much visited by Apis mellifera who seem to be gathering pollen. Along road, but probably native here, at least one large tree was seen in a pasture nearby: the other individuals of Fraxinus collected today in the vicinity of Coscamatepec were from fencerows along the highway and probably planted; the species seems common along the highway near Coscomatepec. MEXICO: Edo. Veracruz, Mun. Coscomatepec, 9 km. (by road) NE of Coscomatepec on road to Huatusco, just s of turnoff to road to Microondas station. alt. 1435 m.
