Plantain trees

Sketching from nature is a major aspect of Chao Shao-an's painting. He even went outdoors to sketch the shapes of broken leaves of the plantain tree during stormy weather. This 5-panel painting, with an emphasis on the broken leaves, is further enlivened by the presence of the chirping bird and the red blossoms of the plant.
