Painted plaster portrait bust of Dr Alfred Percival Maudslay (1850-1931) by Lorenzo Giuntini (active c. 1880-c. 1908), half-length, slightly to right with short hair, moustache and pupils lightly incised, dressed in a loose shirt with a short tie under a button-down collar, his right arm uncovered to the elbow. In his left palm rests a plaster moulding of three Mayan hieroglyphs at which he points with the index finger of his left hand; he wears a leather belt and has a binocular case over his right shoulder; on integral waisted rectangular socle.
