Calder Kanin's exhibit Plastic Planet tackles the omnipresence of plastic in today's world, which has incorporated itself into all bodies of living things. By creating a whimsical menagerie of colorful animals made of plastic bags, Kanin's playfully rendered animals point suggests an ominous reality. The lynx can be a sign of deception, but have playful personalities, and demonstrate confidence in their hunts. This is accomplished in the sculpture with the intense, but curious expression on the animals face.
