Hirado porcelains were produced in Mikawachi, a few kilometers from the great porcelain center of Arita. Hirado production first began in the late 1700s, but lived its most important development in the 1800s with the introduction of fine quality white and blue wares. Late production bears the influence, in shape and decoration, of the extremely refined porcelains from Nabeshima.
