Ironstone ware, a type of tableware popular in the 19th century, is well represented in the assemblage recovered from the William Joyce archaeological site, located in Halton Hills. This site, excavated in 2004 by Archaeological Services Inc., revealed more than 2, 276 pieces of ironstone. This supper plate was likely manufactured sometime between 1840 and 1870, during the height of ironstone ware’s popularity.
