This circular plate with a slight inner curve and small base is a beautiful example of 18th century metalwork ornamentation probably from Deccan. This plate has been beautifully carved in low relief work depicting five scenes; a circular scene in the centre, surmounted by four oblong-shaped scenes. The scene in the centre depicts a court, with people sitting around a dancer enjoying music and dance. In other scenes, several people are shown enjoying music, dance and various day-to-day activities. In between the scenes; the remaining space is filled with decorative motifs. Persian influence is clearly seen on the composition of various scenes, in the facial features of the human figures and their costumes. This plate seems to have served as a decorative piece rather than functional purpose.
