Play sets, toys of several figures and pieces relating to a single subject or theme, offer children several different kinds of play. In manipulating the pieces, kids refine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. And as they move around the figures, children engage their imaginations to make up stories about who the characters are and what they are doing. Even as they play with their little play sets, kids also begin to learn something of the big world around them. Sets of farms, circuses, playgrounds, hospitals, schools, airports, and zoos prepare children for what they see and do when they visit comparable settings.
