In the early and middle 20th century, Serial westerns at the movies and on television cemented the idea, in youngsters' heads, of cowboy and Native American battles throughout the old West. Young people, and especially boys, delighted in playing at these battles, either imaginatively by dressing the parts, or perhaps with a purchased play set such as this inexpensive example made by Hasbro. The set guaranteed "many hours of fun and play."
