Introduced in the United States some thirty years ago, German-engineered Darda sets combined all the advantages of skill building that parents liked in construction sets with all the excitement of fast-moving race cars that kids liked in Hot Wheels and similar toys. Darda sets include interchangeable tracks to encourage kids to build banked curves, tight upside down loops, long upside down overpasses and other features in thirty different track configurations. The hand wind-up motor cars make the racers easy enough for a four-year-old to use. And best of all, the Darda systems need no batteries.
