Playbill for John Bull and The Quaker

We have a number of playbills from the Butler Company’s season at Richmond in 1818. This is for the final night before the company go to Northallerton. The Butler Company performed on a circuit of Theatres that included Richmond, Northallerton, Ripon, Harrogate, Beverley, Kendal and Ulverston. Touring companies had enormous repertoires: during a three month season at Whitby in 1793, Butler’s company performed 56 different plays.
