Ou is known for a calligraphic style that is reminiscent of seal carving, as evident in this work. The characters are evenly spaced out to give a balanced and elongated effect. Done mostly with a rounded brush tip, his strokes are free and unadorned, revealing his quest for a rustic flavour in art. The unqiue brushstrokes and composition of characters demonstrate a sophisticated individual style.
