The Nuttery in the gardens of Sissinghurst Castle is a grove of coppiced hazel and survives from circa 1900. The polyanthus was planted by Vita Sackville-West and her husband Sir Harold Nicholson after they bought Sissinghurst in 1930. These were replaced with shade-loving woodland plants in 1975.
