Polychrome Heads

For many sculptures the collection of materials at hand in the studio – paper, glue, corrugated cardboard, scraps of wood, cloth, wax, adhesive tape – are the starting point. Often when a sculpture is assembled, the roughness of the finish and materials show the process of making itself. Polychrome Heads (2014) is an attempt to keep the original roughness of the sculptures. A mould is taken of the construction and then it is cast in bronze. And then, with all skill and conscientiousness, the bronze is painted to look like cardboard or wood.
