Pomegranate or Dadim peels are used to make another kind of yellow

The local Kumaoni pomegranate is light green in colour and is a sour variety of its red counterpart. Locally called Dadim, it is used to dye dull yellow. The outer peels, just like in the case of walnut, usually end up only as compost.
