In the last decades of his life, Chełmoński limited his social contacts, maintaining close relations only with a few old friends, such as painters Wojciech Piechowski and Antoni Piotrowski. His other close acquaintances were two families of the landed gentry living near Kuklówka: the Górskis of Wola Pękoszewska and the Krasińskis of Radziejowice. Pond in Radziejowice was created during one of Chełmoński’s stays at the Krasiński residence. It depicts the pond in the palace park, with a white building and tower, known as the Little Castle – the oldest part of the Krasiński estate – emerging from the trees on the opposite bank.
